"Better Together" Shadow Program
Stepping into a new high school doesn’t have to be intimidating.
We know that exploring a new campus is a big deal. That is why we are inviting future Mounties to bring their best friend along to experience a day in the life at Mount St. Mary Academy—together.
Whether you are in 8th grade and making your final high school decision, or in 7th grade and just starting to look around, the Mount is ready to welcome you!
High School is Better Together.
Grab your bestie, explore the Mount, and unlock a special tuition discount for your freshman year!
What to Expect During Your Visit
Your VIP Shadow Day is designed to show you exactly what makes the Mount so special. When you and your best friend arrive, you will:
- Be matched with a Mountie Ambassador: You’ll shadow a current student who shares your interests!
- Sit in on real classes: See what learning is like at the Mount (and yes, it’s actually fun).
- Enjoy a VIP Lunch: Lunch is on us! Enjoy a special meal in our cafe together.
- Take home exclusive MSM swag: You won’t leave empty-handed!
The “Better Together” Tuition Perk
We love seeing friendships thrive at the Mount, and we want to make the high school transition easier for both our students and their families.
Here is how the discount works:
- Schedule: Book a joint Shadow Day using the form below.
- Visit: The girls spend a fantastic day exploring the Mount together.
- Enroll: If both girls decide the Mount is the perfect fit and enroll…
- Save: Each family will receive a $250 tuition credit that covers co-curricular fees.
We know your daughter will thrive in all ways as a Mountie, and be involved in clubs, athletics, leadership, the fine arts and also develop her unique heart and mind. The $250 fee waiver will be our way of acknowledging our commitment to developing her in all those ways.

What our parents are saying...
Anna transferred to MSM from an area public school where she was one in a class of over 400… finding a home at the Mount, where she is supported, cheered on and cared for by her teachers and friends has been everything for our daughter.
– Parent of Mountie ‘28
Sending our daughters to MSM was about more than just academics; it was about finding a place where they’re truly seen, challenged, and supported to become their best selves. That personalized attention and strong community? You just don’t get that everywhere.
– Ben & Melissa ‘93 Richey, parents ‘27
Seeing the way my daughter has blossomed during her first year at the Mount has been so rewarding. It makes our daily commute from the Southtowns so worth it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to shadow on the exact same day as my buddy?
While we encourage future mounties and their besties to shadow on the same day, we understand that schedules don’t always align. If you both shadow, and accept at MSM next fall, you are still eligible for the financial credit. However, you must disclose your friends name at the time of scheduling your shadow day with us to be eligible for the credit.
Are there prerequisites for attending MSM?
Freshmen must take the Catholic High School Placement Test in the fall. Transfer students need to complete a shadow day and a family interview.
What support exists if my daughter has learning needs, or is a high-achieving scholar?
We are proud to service students with IEP/504 plans in a dedicated Academic Learning Center. In partnership with local universities, and the College Board, Mount St. Mary Academy offers 15 college credit bearing classes, and an in-house Honors program.
How do you handle tuition?
89% of students receive financial aid. Payment plans are available to make tuition as feasible as possible.
Do you provide transportation to and from school?
Yes! Our student body represents 38 zip codes! Many districts provide busing, and options for private transportation for longer distances are available.
