Our History
Mount St. Mary Academy traces its roots to the 1800s in Belgium, where the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur were founded with a mission to educate young women. Established in 1927, under leadership by Sister Veronica of the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, the Mount has a rich history marked by dedication to academic excellence and the holistic development of young women. From its humble beginnings with 19 students to its current standing as a leading Catholic college preparatory school, Mount St. Mary Academy has consistently evolved while staying true to its founding principles. The school has experienced significant milestones, including the construction of the “New Wing” in 1953, the establishment of a state-of-the-art computer lab in 1995, and the recent implementation of a strategic plan to ensure its continued success in the 21st century.
