Remembering Kai Messmer - MSM Track & Field Assistant Coach
We at Mount St. Mary Academy are saddened to learn of the passing of our Assistant Track & Field Coach, Kai Messmer. Kai started as our Assistant Track Coach in 2023 after graduating from St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute.
He also performed with many of our students during his time in the SJCI Swing Choir. After graduating, he went on to join the Men’s Track & Field Team at Buffalo State University.
Kai was admired by many in the MSM Community, especially our student athletes on the Track & Field Team. Our hearts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Kai was a thoughtful, kind, and resilient young man who formed lasting connections at St. Joe’s, touching the lives of many current students, faculty, staff, and coaches. He was a gifted track athlete, a talented singer in our Swing Choir and Varsity Singers, and a young man of faith. With a joyful and adventurous spirit, a generous heart, and an incredible sense of humor, Kai truly embodied our Lasallian values. The St. Joe’s community remembers Kai, his family, and his many friends in our thoughts and prayers. May we find comfort in our faith, in one another, and in the memories of a young man who lived with authenticity, heart, and hope.
